IPS 5500 Intrusion Prevention System Customers Already Protected Against Fast-Spreading Zotob Worm and Variants

Top Layer Networks, the global leader for high performance intrusion prevention solutions, today announced that its Attack Mitigator IPS 5500 intrusion prevention system, when configured according to the Company’s recommendations, provides protection against the fast-spreading Zotob worm and its numerous variants. This protection has been in place since prior to the announcement of the exploited vulnerability.

Prior to the release of the August 9 Microsoft Security Bulletin, the IPS 5500 provided proactive protection against exploits of Microsoft vulnerabilities via its Microsoft Protocol Validation Modules. Top Layer’s protocol validation modules inspect all transactions for acceptable use of the appropriate protocol, protecting customers from exploits of these vulnerabilities by automatically blocking them regardless of the attack method used.
