Press ReleasesFaceTime Partner to Deliver Scalable, Secure IM and P2P Traffic Monitoring Solution Westboro, MA, January 10, 2005 - Top Layer Networks (www.TopLayer.com), a provider of globally proven intrusion prevention solutions, today announced a partnership with FaceTime Communications (www.facetime.com), the leading provider of solutions that secure, manage, and extend instant messaging (IM) and peer-to-peer (P2P) applications. Top Layer’s IDS Balancer (Balancer) product family in conjunction with FaceTime’s RTG500TM security solution, will provide customers with a reliable IM and P2P traffic monitoring solution that is able to scale to multi-Gigabit networks while handling the asymmetrical traffic loads commonly found in today’s enterprise environment. The companies will also utilize their combined expertise to engage in joint marketing and sales activities. “As IM and P2P applications are increasingly used in today’s corporate environment for legitimate productivity and communications purposes, enterprises need to ensure they have a firm grasp on how these applications impact network traffic loads and potential security issues,” said Mike Reed, Vice President Business Development for Top Layer Networks. “By providing a solution that combines Top Layer’s Balancer technology with FaceTime’s security solutions, customers can utilize a cost-effective, scalable monitoring solution that helps them ensure they fully understand their network traffic patterns, and react quickly to any potential violations or security threats.” Top Layer’s Balancer is a family of aggregation, filtering, and load balancing appliances that extends the range of coverage for network sensors. The Balancer family reduces the capital, maintenance and operations burdens of network sensors while also allowing for new applications such as IM, P2P, VoIP, network analyzers and forensics systems to capture and monitor multi-Gigabit Ethernet traffic. FaceTime’s RTG500 is an enterprise security gateway that controls rogue instant messaging and P2P file-sharing usage. RTG500 secures the network perimeter, decreasing the risk associated with virus spread, disclosure of confidential or inappropriate information, and copyright infringement. Combining Top Layer’s Balancer with FaceTime’s RTG500, customers can be assured that as their networks grow, they can maintain the same high quality of IM and P2P application traffic monitoring while effectively analyzing traffic behavior and identify potential abuse or violations. “FaceTime’s RTG500 enables customers to secure their networks from vulnerabilities posed by today’s IM and P2P technology,” said Christopher Dean, senior vice president of marketing and business development at FaceTime Communications. “By combining our IM and P2P security expertise with Top Layer’s leadership in load balancing, we enable our customers to safely and securely embrace the benefits of IM and P2P throughout their organization in a scalable and cost-effective means.” About Top Layer Networks, Inc.
