Attack Mitigator Earns "NSS Approved" Status

Westboro, MA, January 21, 2004 - Top Layer Networks, a provider of globally proven intrusion prevention solutions, today announced that NSS Group, Europe’s foremost independent network and security testing facility, awarded the Attack Mitigator IPS 2400 with NSS’ coveted “NSS Approved” status. The qualifying tests examined detection accuracy on a wide range of external and internal attacks, sensitivity to common evasion techniques, analysis of the device’s impact on network performance, and its stability, reliability and management features. The Top Layer Attack Mitigator was one of only a few competing Intrusion Prevention Systems to receive the award.

The IPS 2400 demonstrated full blocking capacity even at the test network’s highest speeds, with a negligible impact on network performance. In the gigabit performance tests, the report describes the Attack Mitigator IPS 2400 performance at all levels of load as “impeccable, with 100% of all attacks being detected and blocked under almost all conditions” and concluded that they “would have no hesitation in rating the IPS 2400 as a true 1Gbps device.”

“The performance of the IPS 2400 as an attack mitigation device is very impressive, combining almost flawless detection rates at gigabit wire speed with the lowest latency figures we’ve seen under normal traffic conditions,” said Bob Walder, director of the NSS Group. “We also found the Attack Mitigator to be very stable, surviving our extended reliability tests without missing a beat, and without blocking any legitimate traffic or succumbing to common evasion techniques.”
